Difference Between a Facial Roller and Gua Sha Stone

Facial Roller

How to use the Facial Roller

1. After cleansing & toning, smooth a few drops of facial oil into your skin. The oil will help the roller to glide easily across the skin, while the roller will help the oil to absorb better.
   
2. Start rolling from the centre of your face and move outwards, using gentle pressure.
   
3. Roll upwards on your forehead, cheeks, and neck.
   
4. Use the smaller roller around the eyes and nose.
   Roll each area several times for best results.

How to use the Gua Sha Stone

To Reduce Puffiness Around the Eyes

1. Apply lotion or oil to your eye area.
   
2. Sweep the Gua Sha tool over the under-eye area and out to the temple, all the way to the hairline.
   
3. Repeat three times on each eye, then work the tool from the inside corner of the brow bone out to the temple area.

To Promote Lymphatic Drainage

1. Start at the chin, then sweep the Gua Sha tool along your jawline and up to the ear.
   
2. Move the tool behind the earlobe, and then down the neck.
   
3. Repeat three times.

To Relieve Tension in The Head

1. Start in the middle of your forehead and work your way out toward the temples, all the way to the hairline.
   
2. Repeat as many times as you’d like.

To Contour and De-Puff Your Nose

1. Lightly scrape the tool up the bridge of your nose.
   
2. Bring it down along the side of the nose to the cheek.
   
3. Repeat three times.

To Contour and De-Puff The Chin

1. Gently guide the tool from the middle of your chin along your jawline toward the ear.
   
2. Repeat three times on both sides of the face.

To Firm the Décolletage

1. Start at the outer corner of the jaw near the earlobe.
   
2. Sweep down the neck to just above the collarbone.
   
3. Repeat three times on each side.
   

Tips for Effective Gua Sha

Pressure
Apply medium pressure throughout the massage. Too light pressure may not provide adequate stimulation, while too much pressure can cause discomfort or bruising.

Direction
Always move the Gua Sha stone in upward motions to encourage lymphatic drainage and circulation.

How To Use The Facial Cups

1. Wash your face and gently pat dry.
   
2. Lightly massage your face with your hands to release preliminary tension.
   
3. Although face oils are optional, applying a light layer to your skin may help decrease your risk of bruising as you move the cups.
   
4. Start by applying a small cup to your chin and around your mouth. Leave the cup in place for few seconds and then move upward to a new area. Swap smaller cups for larger cups as needed, like when you get to your forehead. Continue until you have successfully cupped all desired areas.
   
5. If you used a face oil, cleanse your face and pat dry. Otherwise, use a splash of warm water to reopen your pores.
   
6. Continue with your beauty or skin care routine. Facial cupping is said to increase product absorption, so now’s the time to apply.

Clean the tools with a gentle soap and water after each use to keep it free from bacteria and dirt. Store it in a cool, dry place.
